  • In June 1962, at the peak of the Cold War, an unheard-of musical "happening" took place. Mercury's recording van passed through the streets of Moscow into the courtyard of Russia's historic Tchaikovsky Conservatory and began the "first-time-ever" collaboration in the Soviet Union between an American recording team and American and Russian artists.
  • The event created a furor of excitement and was reported around the world. Byron Janis' landmark performances on this disc brilliantly reflect the inspiration and emotion of that unique occasion.
