'Missa Brevis'와 교향곡 3번 'Kaddish'의 초연이 수록되어 있는 이 앨범은 기존의 성가와는 다른 새로운 구조로 악장이 구성되어 있고 치체스터 성가와 자신의 딸까지 음악에서이애기되면서 음반 자체에서 번스타인의 인생까지도 느낄 수 있는 의미있는 앨범이 될 것이다.

지휘자인 레너드 슬래트킨과 BBC 심포니 오케스트라는 번스타인의 폭발력과 생동감을 그대로 살리고자 음악 인생 중 가장 많은 리허설을 거쳐 이 녹음을 마쳤다고 한다.
