and they just keep coming! shortly after eric clapton split from blind faith he hooked up with delaney bramlett and thus confirmed his direction for the next couple of years. the array of talent on "eric clapton" is incredible! we're talking 'slowhand' himself, rita coolidge, jim price, bobby keys, bob whitlock, leon russell, sonny curtis, j.j.curtis, carl radle, jim gordon and delaney and bonnie bramlett. mmm. not bad for a first solo release eh? the album hit the top 20 on both sides of the atlantic and propelled eric clapton even further into the ranks of the musicians hall of fame.
besides featuring a whole bevy of great clapton songs the album also features his blistering version of j.j. cale's classic "after midnight". following his cream and blind faith days and preceeding his derek & the dominoes stint. clapton proves that this was definitely one of his golden periods. and so a god was born!
