지난 4월6일 드디어 Arcam AVR-200을 구입, 설치하였습니다.
비를 맞으며 아들 녀석(중 3, 자칭 타칭 Audiophile)과 함께 fineav.com에 직접 찾아 가서 소리를 들어 보았습니다. 직접 소리를 들어보지 않고는 이 녀석(?)이 가지고 있는 외적인 단점- 최신 Audio Format을 제공하지 않는 것, Phono 단자가 없다는 것(저의 경우 예전에 사용하던 LP가 제법 있거든요), 가격이 약간은 고가 등-이 너무나 마음에 걸려 최종 결정을 내릴 수 없었습니다.
저의 글은 사용후기는 아니고(다른 분들이 훌륭한 글을 올려 주셨고, 저의 느낌도 비슷합니다), 직관적인 감상문이 되겠으며, Arcam의 신제품을 소개하는(제가 Arcam의 영업사원도 아닌데) 것으로 대신하겠습니다.
1. Denon DVD-2800으로 들어 본 AV와 HiFi : fineav 감상실
AV의 경우 정확하고 깨끗한 소리였습니다. 2CH Stereo의 경우, DVDP 성격 탓인지 소리가 약간 신경질적 으로 들렸습니다.
2. Arcam CD92 : fineav 감상실
제 짝이라 그런지 정말 맑고 깨끗한 훌륭한 소리였습니다. 케니 쥐의 섹스폰 소리가 살아서 움직이는 것 같았습니다.
3. Penta 5.1CH Power Amp : fineav 감상실
5.1과 2CH Stereo로 들어 본 소리는 약간 두툼해 졌다고 할까요, 그렇지만 지금 생각해 보니 Arcam AVR-200 자체의 trade mark인 맑고 깨끗한 소리가 약간은 탈색한 것이 아닌가 생각됩니다. 선입견 때문인지는 모르겠지만 AVR-200에 PowerAMP로 Biamping을 하려면 같은 회사 제품 계열이 바람직하지 않을까 생각합니다.(현재 Arcam에는 multi CH PowerAMP가 없습니다.)

AV는 여러분들이 올려주신 글을 참고하시구요, 2CH Stereo + Subwoofer로 감상한 소감만 간단히 말씀드리겠습니다. 위에서 보시는 것처럼 제가 가지고 있는 HiFi line up은 전혀 HiFi적이지 못합니다. 그렇지만 지금 우리 집은 말 그대로 흥분의 도가니 입니다. 정말 AV receiver에서 이런 소리를 들을 수 있을거란 생각은 전혀 해보지 못했을 정도의 맑고, 깨끗한 소리, 정말 압권입니다. 전에 Denon 1802를 사용할 때는 아들녀석이 제 방에 와서가끔 음악을 듣곤 했는데(HiFi System은 10년전에 구입한 Inkel Component), 지금은 퇴근 후 제가 아들 녀석 방을(AVR-200은 아들 방에 설치되어 있음) 기웃기웃하고 있습니다.
Norway 출신 Ole Edward Antonsen의 트럼펫 연주를 듣고 있다보면, 온 몸에 소름이 쫘악 돋으며 머리카락이 쭈빗뿌빗 설 정도로(?) 끝내 줍니다. (저음이 약간은 부족하다고들 하는데 woofer가 잘 받쳐 주어서 그런지 저는 만족합니다.)
Turn Table의 경우는 제 짝인 Inkel Component system에서 음악을 들을 때 보다 훨씬 더 현장감이 있고 진실된 소리였습니다. 비록 볼륨을 약간 높여야 하지만...
아직 교체할 생각은 없는데 Front를 이 녀석과 잘 어울리는 스피커로 업그레이드 한다면, 얼마나 더 좋은 소리가 나올까 정말 생각만 해도 흥분이 됩니다. 그렇지만 지금 것도 만족스럽습니다.
영화보다는 음악을 많이 들으시는 분들께서는(저의 집 경우는 영화 30 : 음악 70 정도 입니다) 한번 시도해 보시면 정말 후회하지 않으실 것 같습니다.
저의 경우도 AVR-200이 최신 Audio Format(6.1, 7.1 등)을 제공하지 않는 것이 이 제품을 선택할 때 최고의 걸림돌이었습니다만, 지금은 전혀 후회하지 않습니다. 아니 대만족입니다. 100만원 중반대의 AV Receiver로 AV와 HiFi 두 마리의 토끼를 잡는 방법 중 최선이 아닐까 감히 말씀드리고 십습니다. 김기석님이 사용기에서 지적하신 것처럼 Arcam DVDP, Power Amp와 함께 line up을 이룬다면 정말 대적할 상대가 없을 것이라 감히 생각해 봅니다. (너무 심한 arcam에 대한 아부성 표현 및 펌프질, 죄송합니다)
5. Arcam 신제품 - 7.1CH PreAMP와 7CH PowerAMP
아래의 사양 설명서는 혹시 참고가 되실까 해서 Arcam Homepage의 News란에 실려있는 신제품 정보를 다운받아 정리한 것 입니다. 7.1CH PreAMP와 7CH PowerAMP 사양으로 올 6월경 영국에서 시판될 제품들 입니다. 우리 나라에도 바로 들어 오겠지요. 가격은 만만치 않은데 혹시 AVR-200이 최신 Audio Format(6.1, 7.1 등)을 제공하지 않아 망설이시는 분들에게는 희소식(?, 7.1CH PreAMP의 경우 가격이 2.5배 이상은 될 것 같습니다)이 될 것 같아 첨부합니다. 저는 PowerAMP에 한번 도전해 볼려고 생각하고 있습니다.(지금부터 열심히 절약하면서 살아야 될 것 같습니다) 늘 즐거운 AV Life 되시길 바랍니다.
